Rules of procedure



The Institut Stralang is a private higher education establishment registered with the Rectorat de l’Académie de Strasbourg and a continuing professional education organisation registered with the Préfet de la Région Grand-Est under number 4267 04301 67. The purpose of these “Internal Rules” is to specify certain provisions that apply to all learners on the various courses and training programmes organised by the Institut Stralang in order to ensure the smooth running of the courses and training offered.

Definitions :

  • Institut Stralang is a private higher education establishment.
  • The Stralang Institute is a continuing professional development organisation.
  • People taking initial FLE courses will hereinafter be referred to as “students”.
  • People taking FLE continuing education courses will hereinafter be referred to as “trainees”.
  • The Director of Courses and Training at the Stralang Institute will hereinafter be referred to as the “Director of the private higher education establishment” and the “Head of the continuing vocational training organisation”.

Article 1

In accordance with articles L 6352-3 et seq. and R 6352-1 et seq. of the French Labour Code, the purpose of these Internal Regulations is to define the general and permanent rules and to specify the health and safety regulations as well as the rules relating to discipline, in particular the sanctions applicable to students and/or trainees and their rights in the event of a sanction.


Article 2: Persons concerned

These Rules apply to all students and/or trainees enrolled in a session provided by the Stralang Institute for the entire duration of their training. Each student and/or trainee is considered to have accepted the terms of these Rules when following a course provided by the Stralang Institute and accepts that measures may be taken against them in the event of non-compliance.

Article 3: Training venue

Training courses take place either on the premises of the Institut Stralang or on external premises. The provisions of these Rules apply not only on the premises of Institut Stralang, but also in any premises or area ancillary to the establishment.


Article 4: General rules

All students and/or trainees must ensure their personal safety and that of others by complying with the general and specific health and safety instructions in force at the training site. However, in accordance with article R. 6352-1 of the French Labour Code, when the training takes place in a company or establishment that already has its own internal regulations, the health and safety measures applicable to students and/or trainees are those set out in the latter regulations.

Article 5: Alcoholic drinks

It is forbidden for students and/or trainees to enter or remain in the establishment in a state of intoxication and to bring in alcoholic beverages.

Article 6: No smoking or vaping

In application of decree no. 2006 – 1386 of 15 November 2006 setting out the conditions for the application of the ban on smoking in places designated for collective use, smoking and vaping are prohibited on the premises of the establishment.

Article 7: Catering area

Access to the catering area is only permitted during the hours set by the establishment. It is forbidden, unless special authorisation is given by the school director, to eat in the rooms where training courses are held.

Article 8: Fire instructions

In accordance with articles R. 4227-28 et seq. of the French Labour Code, fire instructions and in particular a map showing the location of fire extinguishers and emergency exits shall be posted on the premises so that all students and/or trainees are aware of them. Students and/or trainees must immediately comply with any evacuation order given by the training instructor or an employee of the establishment. The instructions in force in the establishment, to be observed in the event of danger and especially fire, must be scrupulously respected.

Article 9: Accidents

Any accident or incident occurring on the occasion of or during training must be reported immediately by the student and/or trainee involved in the accident or the persons who witnessed the accident to the Director of the school. In accordance with article R. 6342-3 of the French Labour Code, any accident occurring to students and/or trainees while they are at the training site must be reported by the Director of the establishment to the social security fund.


Article 10: Dress and behaviour

Students and/or trainees are asked to attend training sessions in decent clothing and to behave correctly towards all persons present in the establishment.

Article 11: Training session times

Training timetables are set by Institut Stralang and notified to students and/or trainees by means of an invitation. Students and/or trainees are required to respect these times. The Stralang Institute reserves the right, within the limits imposed by the provisions in force, to modify the training timetable according to service requirements.

Students and/or trainees must comply with any changes made by the Stralang Institute to the training timetable. In the event of absence or lateness to training, it is preferable for the student and/or trainee to notify the Stralang Institute secretariat on 03 88 31 48 38. In addition, an attendance sheet must be signed by the student and/or trainee at the beginning of each day of training.

Article 12: Access to the school premises

Entering and leaving the premises. Students and/or trainees have access to the premises in which they are registered. They are forbidden to bring into the establishment any animal, even a very small one, to cause disorder and, in general, to hinder the smooth running of the training course.

Our establishment has access for people with reduced mobility.

Our team is complemented by the expertise of a Disability Officer (Mr Kubilay TOK), who is on hand to help make our establishment “handi-accommodating” and who will answer any queries or questions you may have about welcoming trainees with disabilities.

The role of the disability adviser

The Disability Officer is responsible for identifying people with disabilities as soon as they join the training centre, ensuring equal treatment during the recruitment process and throughout the training course, and providing equal access to training for people with disabilities; to be a driving force behind the development of pedagogical accessibility in the training provided, by identifying problems and areas for progress; to be able to mobilise regional support mechanisms for the implementation of disability compensation in training, whenever necessary; to anticipate the end of training by guaranteeing the transmission to partners of data useful for the integration of the disabled person into employment.

Article 13: Use of equipment

All students and/or trainees are obliged to keep the equipment entrusted to them for training purposes in good condition. Students and/or trainees are required to use the equipment in accordance with its purpose. It is forbidden to use the equipment for any other purpose, in particular personal use, except for equipment made available for this purpose. At the end of the course, students and/or trainees are obliged to return all equipment and documents in their possession belonging to the establishment, with the exception of teaching documents distributed during the course.

Article 14: Recordings

It is formally forbidden, except by express dispensation, to record or film course or training sessions.

Article 15: Teaching documentation

The teaching documentation provided during the course or training sessions is protected by copyright and may not be re-used other than for strictly personal use.

Article 16: Responsibility of the organisation in the event of theft or damage to the personal property of students and/or trainees

Institut Stralang declines all responsibility in the event of loss, theft or damage to personal objects of any kind left by students and/or trainees on the Institute’s premises.

Article 17: Sanctions and disciplinary procedures

Any breach by students and/or trainees of any of the provisions of these Internal Regulations may be subject to a penalty or disciplinary procedure governed by articles R 6352-3 to R 6532- 8 of the French Labour Code reproduced after Article R6352-3 :

Any measure, other than verbal observations, taken by the director of the establishment or his representative, following an action by the student and/or trainee considered by him to be at fault, whether or not this measure is likely to affect immediately the presence of the person concerned in the course or to jeopardise the continuity of the training he is receiving, constitutes a sanction. Fines or other financial penalties are prohibited.

Article R6352-4

  • No penalty may be imposed on a student and/or trainee without the latter first being informed of the grounds for the penalty.

Article R6352-5

  • When the Director of the establishment or his representative is considering taking a sanction which has an impact, whether immediate or otherwise, on the presence of a student and/or trainee on a course, the procedure shall be as follows:

1° The Director or his representative will summon the student and/or trainee, indicating the purpose of the summons. This notice specifies the date, time and place of the interview. It shall be in writing and shall be sent by registered letter or delivered to the person concerned against a receipt;

2° During the interview, the student and/or trainee may be assisted by a person of his/her choice. The invitation referred to in 1° shall state this option;

3° The Director or his representative shall state the reason for the proposed sanction and shall hear the student’s and/or trainee’s explanations.

Article R6352-6

  • The penalty may not be imposed less than one clear day or more than fifteen days after the interview. The student and/or trainee will be notified of the decision in writing, stating the reasons, by registered letter or by delivery against receipt.

Article R6352-7

  • When the behaviour has made it essential to take an interim measure of temporary exclusion with immediate effect, no definitive sanction relating to this behaviour may be taken without the procedure provided for in article R. 6352-4 and, where applicable, articles R. 6352-5 and R. 6352-6, having been observed.

Article 18: Advertising

These Rules are presented to each student and/or trainee before the training session. These Rules are displayed in the Stralang Institute premises.
